Monsters anatomy: Godzilla, Gremlins, werewolves…

Who has never wished to take a look inside fantastic creatures? Have you ever wondered how an Alien could survive to its own acid? Does the horn of the unicorn turn to the right or to the left? How big is the brain of Godzilla?

The answer to this last and most vital question is in a book written in 1967 by Shoji Otomo and illustrated by Shogo Endo, "An Anatomical Guide to Monsters" which dissects the kaijū, great monsters of Japanese cinema: Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera...

He inspired the illustrator, animator and author of comic books Brad McGinty who, working on an anatomical guide of the Xenomorph, had the idea of extending his project to the popular American monsters: Gremlins, Martians of Mars Attack, Predator...

"Yōkai Daizukai", an illustrated guide of the yōkais by the manga author Shigeru Mizuki reveals the anatomy of 85 monsters from Japanese folklore.

And with "Créatures Fantastiques Deyrolle" by Jean-Baptiste de Panafieu and Camille Renversade you will know all the different stages of regeneration of the phoenix, the transformation into a werewolf, the production of fire by dragons, the respiratory system of sirens...
